Danaher Corporation is based in United States and is included among the top 200 fortune companies. It is a part of the global science and technology industry focusing on the development of diagnostic tools and engaged in scientific research on drugs. The following section will be covering the PESTLE Analysis of Danaher.

Political Factors

The political factors have a strong influence on the financial performance and growth prospects of an organization. A stable political environment supports ease of doing business and allows the companies to engage in procurement and distribution processes without any significant obstacles. Due to political instability, the procurement and distribution processes are disrupted.

One of the factors that had a profound effect on Danaher was the war between Russia and Ukraine, which translated into changes in business operations of the company in the war inflicted territory. The range of products supplied to the region were limited to medical products used for treatment of patients and vaccination, leading to less than 1% sales in Russia (Danaher, 2022).

It has been stated that more than 50% of the sales achieved by the organization are attributed to the non-US entities, therefore, geopolitical conflict carries significant implications for the company. Some of the implications of the political uncertainty originating out of the Russian conflict, is the pretax charge of $43 million, in addition to the supply disruption of natural gas by Russia.

Economic Factors

The economic factors such as inflation, GDP, unemployment etc. also play a contributing role in creating environment dynamics for an organization. Positive economic indicators are connected to business growth while economic decline is linked to poor financial performance of organizations.

Economic sanctions impact the way businesses operations are managed, as the sanctions imposed can restrict the import and export of the products. As evident in case of Russian war, the economic sanctions resulted in limiting the supply of medical technology to treatment of the patients. Moreover, laws governing taxation and monetary policies effect the firm’s income.

Danaher is also affected by changes occurring in the economic stability and levels of inflation of a country influence the investment made in the domain of science and technology and also suppresses the demand of the related products. The financial crisis of 2009 for example had led to significant reduction in net income, which fell from 97 cents per share to 92 cents per share (Reuters, 2009).

Inflation can also increase the cost of production which can adversely affect the profit margins and demand of the products being offered by Danaher. As observed in 2022, the increased production cost, combined with the rising freight cost has driven up the financial expenditure required for managing the operations for the conglomerate.

Social Factors

The demand of specific diagnostic tool or treatment approach can shift the production process of the firms in the science and technology segment. The onset of COVID-19 had created an increase in the demand for tools that could help with the diagnosing of the virus. However, the reduction in the number of cases of COVID has lowered the sales volume of the related products (Taylor, 2023).

Another way social factors can affect the production and business development is the emphasis of the consumer on health-related products. As observed during the pandemic, a large number of people were seeking diagnosis and vaccination. With the decline of COVID, people have become less concerned about the pandemic and are investing in other health related tools.

The shift in demographic makeup of the society also influences the demand for products related to biotechnology, diagnostics and life sciences. A rising aging population is likely to experience multiple health issues, requiring medical intervention, which offers Danaher an opportunity for growth.

Technological Factors

The technological advancements such as artificial intelligence and automation have been a significant opportunity for the various segments being managed by Danaher. The experimentation in the biopharmaceutical domain for example has benefited from machine learning as the decisions could be made with more efficiency (Chance, 2023).

The companies being managed under the name of Danaher include scientific research and technology specializations, such as biotechnology and life sciences. Technology is at the core of the business and development of the corporation as the company is focused on development of diagnostic and treatment tools supported through thorough scientific investigation.

Legal Factors

The science and technology industry is operating under the regulations linked to the healthcare regulations. The products that are available in the market need to be approved by the concerned authority, while any issues with the products requires the recall of the faulty items. Acts such as FDC ensure that the medical related products that are available in the market meet the expected standards (Danaher, 2022).

Acquisition process needs to adhere to the legal requirements of the country. Since, Danaher has acquired companies such as Abcam the management has to follow the related requirements. In addition, integration of business units also needs to follow the legal proceedings. The company also needs to respond to intellectual property risks under the provided legal framework.

Environmental Factors

The pressure to reduce the GHG emissions has resulted in the management at Danaher to engage in steps that aim to reduce the emission. By 2032, the company intends to reduce the GHG up to 50%., supporting the pro-environment action plan. Along with that, by 2024, the company has set up the goal to bring 15% decrease in its solid waste to curtail environmental impact (Danaher, 2021).

Conclusion

Danaher has attained success as a global corporation and is among the leading businesses in the science and technology sector. The political instability and economic uncertainty has disrupted the net income of the company, however, demand of its healthcare products and innovative technology has benefited the company to maintain profitability.

The insurance industry is a critical part of the global economy, providing protection and security to individuals and businesses. However, the industry operates in a complex and dynamic environment, facing numerous challenges and opportunities. To navigate this environment successfully, companies in the insurance sector must conduct a PESTEL analysis to understand the political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal factors that influence their operations. This article going to explore the key findings of a PESTEL analysis of insurance industry and their implications for the future of the sector.

Political factors

PESTEL analysis of the insurance business shows that political influences shape its future. Government laws affect the industry politically. Governments worldwide regulate insurance to protect consumers and promote fair competition. In some nations, including the US, new government regulations might limit insurers’ revenue or require them to cover specific risks. International trade accords have given insurers cross-border benefits but also raised competition from overseas enterprises. Geopolitical instability has disrupted and cost insurers worldwide.

Another major difficulty for stakeholders is universal healthcare coverage. Private insurers may lose money or go bankrupt if more countries implement public health care. Environmentalist advocacy could also lower pollution-related clients’ premiums (Gnatzy & Moser, 2012). In conclusion, knowing how these varied political forces interact within and across markets sheds light on current insurance industry dangers and opportunities.

Economic factors

The insurance industry, like any other sector, is constantly influenced by several external factors that shape and determine its market performance. One of the crucial aspects to consider while conducting a PESTEL analysis of the insurance industry is the economic factor. Economic factors such as inflation rates, interest rates, taxation policies, and changes in GDP strongly impact this industry’s growth potential. The current COVID-19 pandemic has also disrupted global financial markets and brought about unprecedented challenges for insurers worldwide. Insurers are experiencing significant disruptions across their investments portfolios due to turbulent financial environments resulting from low-interest rates and uncertainty in equity markets.

In addition, rising healthcare costs have significantly raised claim payments among health insurers leading to premium hikes on medical coverage products offered by these companies. As a result, more people may be reluctant or unable to purchase those policies; hence reducing overall demand for these products in economic terms. To counteract these economic impacts on their businesses’ position and continue growing during uncertain times insures must evaluate how macroeconomic factors affect them over time

Social factors

The social factors have a profound influence on the success and sustainability of the insurance industry. One crucial factor that has recently emerged is demographic changes, which include aging populations and millennials’ changing demands for insurance products based on their digital lifestyles. For instance, aging populations indicate increased demand for life insurance policies as more people seek to protect their beneficiaries from financial hardships upon death.

In contrast, millennials often prioritize custom-tailored experiences that align with their lifestyle needs over traditional blanket offerings. Additionally, cultural norms such as increasing societal awareness around health and wellness increase demand for health insurance products.

Technological Factors

Technology changes many industries, including insurance. AI has revolutionized this industry. AI systems are more correctly analyzing client data and danger. Machine learning algorithms can swiftly detect fraudulent claims, saving insurers and their clients’ money. With the increased usage of mobile devices and internet access, insurers are using digital channels to interact with clients.

Online portals give policyholders more control and real-time claim updates (Barbara et al., 2017). Innovative technologies like telematics sensors in vehicles allow insurers to collect valuable driving data that can be used for personalized pricing or safety interventions, a trend known as usage-based insurance (UBI). These technological advances offer great opportunities to increase efficiency in the insurance industry, but they also present significant challenges in areas like privacy and cybersecurity that policymakers must address.

Environmental factors

The insurance sector, like any other industry, is greatly influenced by environmental factors that play a vital role in shaping its growth and development. These factors fall under the PESTEL framework, which encompasses political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal aspects of an industry.

In this context, focusing on the environmental aspect highlights how ecological concerns impact the operations and profitability of insurers worldwide. Insurance companies have to bear the brunt of negative environmental impacts such as global warming resulting from climate change events leading to natural disasters including hurricanes or tornadoes causing huge losses for insured parties.

Such occurrences lead not only lead to financial burden but regulatory issues for these companies who must adhere to strict policies set forth by statutory authorities when compensating victims of environmentally-induced hazards or risks; failing which lawsuits could further damage their reputation thereby affecting their bottom line.

Additionally long-term payouts related to life insurance are also affected in areas prone to smoke pollution because it can impact human health leading loss prevention settlement costs often accompanied by costly litigation processes again negatively impacting profits.

Legal Factors

PESTEL legal factors help insurance businesses understand their external environment. Insurers face risks and possibilities from the changing regulatory landscape. New laws or regulations may demand underwriting or product adjustments, which can severely effect insurance business. Insurers must also assess litigation risk because lawsuits and settlements can hurt their bottom line. Intellectual property law also protects insurers’ sensitive information and technology assets from copycats and thieves (Kampanje, 2014).

Employment law also affects insurance corporations’ performance by regulating workforce management decisions including hiring, remuneration, and employee relations. Understanding these legal factors can help insurers avoid risks and comply with rules. This awareness also ensures organizations follow ethical standards without violating regulations, resulting in long-term company prosperity.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the PESTEL analysis of the insurance industry reveals a complex and rapidly evolving environment. While there are challenges and risks associated with each of the six factors, there are also significant opportunities for growth and innovation. Companies in the insurance sector must be proactive and adaptable in their responses to changes in the political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal landscape.

By leveraging their strengths, addressing their weaknesses, and embracing new trends and technologies, insurers can continue to provide essential protection and value to their customers while maintaining their competitiveness in a dynamic market.

Food Industry – Political Factors

The industry is deemed to include multiple stakeholders that are significantly effected due to fluctuations in the political stability. Food insecurity is triggered by political crisis as seen in the case of Russia Ukraine war. Due to the intense conflict, the harvesting of crops, processing and supply has been effected. The segment of sunflower oil has also been disrupted due to the war (Emediegwu, 2022).

The food security is significantly compromised due to the political turmoil and insecurity. The food industry procures 30% of the wheat supply from Ukraine and the crisis has created major obstacles in the supply operations. Besides the disruption in the supply of the food staple, the global food industry is also facing the effects of the war in the form of price increases.

Besides the political instability, high level of corruption creates significant barriers to the functioning and growth of the food industry. It can lead to food insecurity as the food producers working on small scale find it hard to bear the pressure of exploitation and extortion. However, there are some factors that can be beneficial for the food industry.

The policies designed and implemented by the government also have an impact on the food sector as the subsidies can become a source of benefit for the food producers. In addition, the implementation of favorable tax policies drives the sector towards advancement and growth.

Food Industry – Economic Factors

The global food industry faces numerous economic pressures as the threat of declining financial stability creates a higher risk of loss for the businesses. Recession has a direct impact on the food industry as the cost of production, packaging material, and distribution are increased. The businesses have to respond to the price changes and adjust accordingly.

Labor cost increase is another factor that can raise the capital input required by the food businesses. From the small scale farmers to large scale organizations, all are effected by the higher labor price. Inflation created by the economic slowdown further creates a challenging economic dynamics for the stakeholders in the industry.

Disposable income of the people is effected by the economic condition of a country. The regions that are marked by economic stability and rising income, the households can purchase food items to fulfil their needs. On the other hand, countries that have disturbed economic situation, people experience lower disposable income and their spending reduces (Jenkins et al., 2021).

Food Industry – Social Factors

The growing population indicates a rising demand for different food items. High growth rate offers expansion opportunities to the food sector, while slower growth suggests a slower growth demand. The factor of gender equality also influences the degree of food security across the society, as women are at risk of food insecurity in regions with a patriarchal mindset.

During COVID people that were laid off or were unemployed due to business closure, their behavior changed as they reduced the amount they spent on the food items. These consumers are also more likely to opt for lower cost alternatives as a means of cost saving. Furthermore, pandemic also increased trading restrictions on food suppliers, which declined the sales volume (Macdonald, 2020).

Rise of organic and healthy food is another notable social factor that effects the food industry. Due to the pandemic, consumers have started showing preference for organic food items as it was deemed to be carrying higher nutritional value. Moreover, awareness about the negative effects of processed food has created a niche for the organic food segment.

Food Industry – Technological Factors

The technology assisted production and processing of food has made the industry to grow exponentially. The industry now includes small scale food producers to large firms that process and supply large batches of items to the distributors. All of these processes are being supported through technology such as robotics results in higher productivity (Martin, 2019).

Along with that, the use of 3D printers is seen as a novel use of technology to create food for people with specific needs and issues. Drones have also benefited the food industry helping to examine the condition of soil and identify the harvest patterns and deftly rectify the issues. Furthermore, technology has also enabled the food companies to bring improved packaging.

Food Industry – Legal Factors

The legal factors that need to be considered by the companies in the food industry involve regulations related to food quality. The expected standards need to be followed by them and the items available in the market need to adhere to the hygiene and quality criteria. Selling expired food products can lead to legal penalty as observed in case of Tesco (Reichman, 2021).

Labor and employment laws also constitute an important part of the food industry. These laws provide the businesses in the food industry with guidelines about the number of working hours, salary and other employment policies. The businesses are also required to obtain permit from the health department, which reflects the way legal factors define the industry behavior.

Food Industry – Environmental Factors

The waste material produced by the food industry comprises the water and waste, which needs to be processed and recycled to reduce the harm caused to the environment. Also, the packaging material being used by the food industry adds to the wastage, which can be damaging for the environment.

The stakeholders in the food industries are trying to lower the wastage and also to recycle it to become more eco-friendly. Companies are also investing in packaging materials that can be recycled. Another way the food industry has taken environment friendly initiative is through emphasis on achieving net zero emissions (Coyne, 2023).

Conclusion

The food industry is highly susceptible to political changes as unstable political climate not only disturbs food supply but is also damaging for the level of food security. The economic and social factors have a strong effect on the people’s buying behavior and business revenues. Technology plays a vital role in increasing the efficiency of the food industry companies.

Domino’s is a part of the fast food industry in the US, with the different retail outlets operating internationally. The company specializes in making Pizza and serves customers in more than 90 countries. The PESTLE analysis of Domino’s illustrates the way different environmental forces shape the industry setting and effect the company’s decisions.

Political Factors

Political climate of a country determines the stability an organization is likely to experience in managing its operations. Unstable political condition creates a high risk environment which makes it difficult to maintain efficiency and productivity levels. In the US, Domino’s has a stable political environment; however the similar situation is not present in other regions.

Russia Ukraine war had a negative effect on Domino’s operations in the war ridden areas as the conflict lowered the profits earned. Moreover, the highly volatile business environment put the employees at risk. The management was contemplating closure of its more than 170 branches in Russia (Jordan, 2022).

Trading of raw material is not only dependent on the level of political stability, but the prices of the items are also affected by the volatile political environment. Due to Russian invasion of Ukraine, the price structure of wheat was altered. Since it is a core ingredient in the products manufactured at Domino’s the raising price of wheat increased cost incurred by the company.

Economic Factors

The economic prosperity of the country is determined by GDP which suggests growing businesses and higher employment. The US is considered to have the highest GDP which implies a strong economic environment. Domino’s is able to benefit from the stable US economy and maintain profitable business operations.

However, changes such as economic slowdown cause a decline in sales made by the company, which ultimately affects its revenues. A lower income among the households creates a focus on necessary items and buyers refrain from spending extra income. Domino’s has experienced lower sales as customers consider delivery charges an additional and unnecessary cost.

Price changes of supply chain have negatively affected the cost of business operations for Domino’s as the company had to deal with increased price of wheat and oil. Along with that the rising labor cost added an additional expense to the company. The higher price of fuel has also caused an increase in the transportation expenditure of Domino’s showing effects of inflation (Sophia, 2022).

Social Factors

Rising obesity rates have highlighted the need to consume less fatty and high calorie diet. Consumers demand shifted towards healthy food that doesn’t contribute to health issues. Domino’s has responded to this social trend by incorporating healthy items as a part of its menu. An example in this regard is the inclusion of salad in the retail stores in the US.

COVID had a favorable impact on the fast food industry as people were more inclined to purchase such items as a source of comfort. Domino’s was able to gain higher sales during the pandemic due to this social trend. In addition, people bought more fast food during the festive season, leading to higher demand for fast food.

Another change that was initiated after the pandemic started was related to the protocol of delivering orders to the customer’s house. Since buyers preferred contact-less delivery, the process was modified to address the social distancing needs. The employees also adhered to the safety guidelines by wearing face masks and followed other precautionary measures (Kollewe, 2021).

Technological Factors

Technology helps an organization to manage customer data and make useful inferences from the analysis of that data. These results guide the management from making business related decisions that help the company to move in a positive direction. Domino’s is using different technologies PULSE for handling customer data and understanding market trends (Domino’s Pizza, 2021).

Machine learning tools are helping the company in making production decisions, allowing the employees to identify the required pace of production. Moreover, the company has developed its app to keep with the trend of digitalization of businesses, gaining 75% of the sales through online platform.

Technology assists the company in handling its inventory in an effective manner. Domino’s has also integrated technological developments to maintain good quality of its products. For instance, Heatwave hot bags were used to ensure the freshness of the items during delivery. DOMINO’S DXP also reflects the way technology has shaped the operations at the company (Domino’s, 2022).

Legal Factors

Domino’s operations are managed under the guidelines by US Food and Drug Authority. The quality of food has to be maintained to show compliance with these regulations. The company needs to maintain fresh and hygienic food standards across all of its outlets. In one instance, a fine of $116,000 was imposed on the restaurant that was deviating from hygienic standards.

Customer rights and equal treatment of all customers without any bias constitutes an important part of the legal framework. Domino’s faced legal troubles when it overlooked the importance of developing an app that is user friendly for all people. The company faced litigations on the grounds that the app didn’t support the people with visual disability (Higgins, 2019).

Furthermore, employment laws related to the region are applicable for Domino’s. In case of the US, the company has to offer equal job chances without any discrimination, adhere to working hours limit and maintain wage structure in accordance to the legal standards. Failure to follow the related laws can lead to legal complications.

Environmental Factors

The US fast food companies are increasingly embracing the eco friendly business practices. The company is following the sustainable operations strategy and focusing on the achievement of net zero carbon emissions goal (Domino’s Pizza, 2021). The management has also included recycling as a part of the company’s initiatives to lower the environmental impact.

Besides controlling the emissions and lowering them to the standards, the management is investing in renewable energy sources. Energy audits provide an overview of the company’s energy usage patterns and the improvements required in this domain. The management also encourages its suppliers to uphold environment friendly practices.

Conclusion

Domino’s business operations are significantly affected by the external environment, as evident through the effect of political and economic changes. Domino’s is able to leverage technological advancements to establish a strong position in the market. Overall, the external environment is moderately favorable for the company.

This is the detailed PESTLE analysis of Chick-fil-A focuses on the evaluation of different aspects of the external environment that influence the company’s sales and profitability.

Introduction and Background

Chick-fil-A is a fast-food restaurant chain that specializes in chicken-based dishes, with its most popular menu item being the Chick-fil-A sandwich. The company was founded in 1946 in Hapeville, Georgia, by S. Truett Cathy, who started by selling boneless chicken sandwiches at a small diner called the Dwarf Grill.

After the success of the chicken sandwich, Cathy decided to focus on the fast-food market, and in 1967 he opened the first Chick-fil-A restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia. The chain quickly expanded across the United States, and as of 2021, it has more than 2,600 locations in 47 states and Washington, D.C.

Chick-fil-A is known for its commitment to customer service and its corporate values, which are rooted in the Christian faith. The company is closed on Sundays to allow employees to attend church and spend time with their families.

Despite its popularity, Chick-fil-A has also been the subject of controversy due to its donations to organizations that have been criticized for their anti-LGBTQ+ views. However, the company has taken steps in recent years to distance itself from these organizations and promote a more inclusive environment.

Political Factors

The political influences shape the way an organization is able to sustain and flourish in a region. Negative changes in the political climate can affect the way a business is able to operate in the industry. Sales volume declines as customers refrain from visiting the fast food outlets, while stable political climate, as evident in the case of US helps strengthen the businesses.

The company has been able to run its operations smoothly as the US has been able to provide the company with a stable political environment. Apart from the political strength of a country, there are other mechanisms that affect the business output and limit the progress of an organization.

Chick-fil-A faced criticism on the basis of its stance towards gay rights, which was deemed as a conservative point of view. Activists and even political figures became involved in responding to the controversy by limiting the business operations of the company in San Francisco (Condon, 2012).

Government policies about fast food industry, taxation and licensing requirements are some other components that constitute the political arena for the company. In order to open a restaurant, the company has to take the related licenses, and adhere to the government’s regulations for fast food industry. The franchising process is also governed by the policies.

Economic Factors

The income of people has a strong influence on their buying decisions as financial stability allows the consumers to spend their earnings beyond the basic necessities. The rate of inflation is another factor that people consider when spending in the domain of fast food. Chick-fil-A had to revise its menu price due to the higher prices of chicken, which caused a 20% increase (Geiger, 2023).

The cost of supply chain process of the company is also affected due to the price changes. The raw materials required for food preparation and fuel for transportation of those items leads to increased cost. In order to adjust the cost changes, the company has to make required changes to the menu pricing structure.

High employment rates boost company sales; however a downside of increased employment indicates a possibility of labor shortage. When employment rate is high people are not likely to compromise on wage and work environment, leading to labor shortage. Chick-fil-A had to revise its hourly wage in an effort to decrease turnover chances.

Social Factors

Social factors include the preferences of customers and the buying behavior that is guided by their demographics and taste. With the passage of time the consumers have become more health conscious which has created the need to offer them items that are different from the fried and high calorie menu.

Even though the company specializes in chicken based menu, the rising trend of healthy eating and plant based food has propelled the management to add non-meat options to its list. The fast food retailer has added cauliflower to its menu range as a reflection of bringing healthy alternatives to such customers (Chick-fil-A, 2023).

Another way social factors are effecting company’s supply chain decisions is the focus on anti-biotic free chicken. Consumers demand products that are not only hygienic but also carry no harmful substances. The shift to the chicken suppliers avoiding the use of anti-biotic suggests that the company is striving to respond to this social trend.

Technological Factors

Chick-fil-A has developed its business processes through integrating the various artificial intelligence tools. These technologies enable the company to handle the large batches of product manufacturing and maintain steady supply chain. Social media has also facilitated the company to reach the target market and keep track of the trends and issues in the domain of fast food.

Another way technology has benefited the fast food companies is robotics. Chick-fil-A has started using robots for the purpose of delivering food orders to the customers (Gardiner, 2022). The use of robots in restaurant operations is likely to support the company in lowering the cost and offering high quality service to the customers.

Legal Factors

The company has to the follow the US employment laws pertaining to the fair treatment, equal employment and salary. When companies deviate from these legalities, there is a risk of facing lawsuit. Chick-fil-A has been a target of legal proceedings due to the violation of employment laws.

The company was under scrutiny when it was found that the management was using chicken sandwiches as an alternative to the salary for the employees (Doughman, 2022). The management also had to deal with financial penalty due to the violation of child labor laws. Chick-fil-A also had to deal with a lawsuit pertaining to lack of consumer data privacy.

Besides the employment and privacy laws, the company has to adhere to the food safety standards upheld by FDA. Chick-fil-A has to form contracts with responsible suppliers who focus on animal welfare. In addition, under the guidance of the Food Allergy Safety law, the product ingredients have to be clearly listed and any allergens are mentioned for the consumers.

Environmental Factors

Chick-fil-A has embraced the notion of sustainability through environmental stewardship program. It is invested in reduction of food related waste, managing 25 million pounds of waste in an eco-friendly manner. ORCA system has been put in place to tackle the waste and reduce the harmful effect on the environment (Chick-fil-A, 2021).

Coordinating with food shelters and charitable organizations, the company has created an opportunity for handling surplus food. The management also encourages the employees to be environmentally responsible and adhere to the stewardship plan through engaging in recycling. It also offers them refurbished technology to lower the environmental impact.

Conclusion

Chick-fil-A is a fast food restaurant chain that has been able to navigate through various external factors affecting its operations. The PESTEL analysis shows that the company has been successful in dealing with political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental factors that have impacted its performance.

The company has been able to adapt to changing consumer preferences and trends, such as the shift towards healthy eating, through menu diversification and adding non-meat options. Additionally, It has embraced technology to improve its business processes and reach its target market through social media.

Chick-fil-A has also shown its commitment to sustainability and the environment through its stewardship program. Despite some legal issues that have arisen, the company has remained compliant with employment and food safety laws. Overall, Chick-fil-A’s ability to adapt and respond to external factors has enabled it to remain a successful player in the fast food industry.

Capitec Bank is a retail bank based in South Africa that was founded in 2001. It has quickly become one of the most innovative and fastest-growing banks in the country, with a focus on providing simple, affordable, and accessible banking products and services to individuals.

The bank started with a single branch in Stellenbosch, Western Cape and has since expanded to over 800 branches across South Africa, making it the third-largest bank in the country by customer numbers.

Capitec Bank offers a range of products and services, including savings accounts, personal loans, credit cards, and transactional accounts. The bank’s business model is built around offering low fees and competitive interest rates, with a focus on digital banking solutions that make banking easier and more convenient for customers.

One of the most significant factors that contributed to the bank’s success is its unique credit assessment model, which is based on a client’s behavior, rather than their credit history. This has made banking more accessible to many South Africans who were previously excluded from traditional banking services due to a lack of credit history or low credit scores.

Capitec Bank has received numerous awards for its innovative banking products and services, and it continues to grow in popularity and market share in South Africa.

PESTLE Analysis of Capitec Bank

The PESTLE analysis of Capitec Bank illustrates the industry environment in which it has been operating, highlighting the potential challenges and growth opportunities.

Political Factors

There have been positive changes in the political front of South Africa in the post apartheid era, but in 2021, many businesses experienced volatility due to the hostile conflict. Capitec business responded to this civil unrest trough adjustment of the cash flow. Moreover, in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Nata the company had to deal with cash losses and property damage.

The global geo-political disturbances such as volatility in Eastern European affect the investment output of the company (Capitec Bank, 2022). The investment decisions in other regions are also guided by the geo-political stability, as reoccurring volatility indicates underlying political conflict that can have detrimental effect on the organization’s profitability.

Government’s policies pertaining to banking sector is another major influencing factor for the company. For instance, the regulations related to insurance, taxation, interest rate define the banking policies adopted by the company. In addition, the lending process is in accordance to the government’s policies.

Economic Factors

The economic position of a country has a major effect on the banking industry as the financial decisions of the consumer are driven by country’s economic condition. The profitability of Capitec is largely dependent on the financial activity of the public. South Africa has been experiencing slow economic growth, and COVID further created economic complications.

The company has been able to maintain a profitable position amidst financial crunch. More than 20% annual growth was reported by the company while a positive trend was observed in earnings per share as well. However, the pandemic and resultant lockdown has adverse impact on the operating profit and headline per share (Zwane, 2020).

Post COVID has indicated the return of business activities to the pre lockdown levels, which has benefited the company. Capitec was able to substantially expand its market share by gaining new customers. Furthermore, the headline profitability illustrates the economic growth of the organization in the banking segment (Buthelezi, 2022).

Social Factors

The recent times have seen changing pattern of consumer banking preferences, as more people shift towards digital financial transactions. This increasing digital payment trend is a positive component for Capitec as it would further expand its digital banking business model. COVID has further supported the ease of buying through digital payment solutions.

The use of traditional banking card was lower during the lockdown as people were not able to go out of homes and make purchases, thus indicating downward trend in this domain. Therefore, lockdown has benefited the growth of digital transactions and internet banking. A recent trend observed is the increasing number of people displaying preference for app based payment (Discovery Bank, 2022).

The management has maintained a positive brand image during the COVID, as the customers were offered flexibility in regards to their payments and interested related payments. In addition, Capitec is known as an institution that caters to the banking needs of people from various socio-economic backgrounds. The focus on inclusion has helped in establishing positive image.

Technological Factors

Since Capitec Bank has digital presence, the company significantly relies on technology to carry out its business operations. An example is the option of scan to pay to facilitate the customers to use the app for making payments. People have shown a preference for simplified payment solutions and the company has used technology to keep relevant with the people’s digital needs.

Another way that technology has been used to manage business operations and facilitate the customer is the process of opening an account. Rather than following the traditional account opening process, the bank relies on digital medium. The remote on boarding offers the customer the ease of setting up an account while using their mobile phone (Capitec Bank, 2022).

The company is also using technology to strengthen its business operations. For instance, technology enables the management to identify the occurrence of financial fraud and address the issue diligently. Machine learning and other IT tools have enabled Capitec to capitalize on the benefits of technology.

Legal Factors

Belonging to the banking and finance sector requires the company to adhere to the regulations developed by different financial bodies. Financial compliance is maintained through following the regulations developed by the relevant institutions such as National Credit Regulator (NCR), Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) and Financial Sector Laws Amendment.

Capitec Bank also has to implement the employment laws of South Africa. For example, the employment process has to be aligned with the Broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) framework. The workforce needs to be a representative of the implementation of this framework.

Moreover, the consumer protection laws have to be integrated with the banking operations. The data of the customer needs to be kept confidential and the company has to make sure that the data theft or breach of privacy doesn’t occur to avoid legal issues. Money laundering claim can lead to serious issues and the company strives to retain financial transparency.

Environmental Factors

Banking sector in South Africa is adopting a more environment friendly approach in handling business operations, moving to digital operations and using recycling to minimize waste. The concerned environment protection agencies offer guidelines about the environmental performance goals for the organizations in the banking industry.

Capitec is making efforts to manage the carbon footprint and ensure that the GHG output doesn’t increase and is retained within the baseline. The establishment of new head office was done keeping it aligned with the sustainability goals. Management has reduced paper use and shifted to a more efficient energy based solutions to adhere to the sustainability policy (Capitec, 2022).

Conclusion

In conclusion, the PESTLE analysis of Capitec Bank demonstrates the potential challenges and opportunities that the company may face in the banking industry. The political and economic factors such as government policies and economic position of the country have significant impact on the profitability of the bank. However, Capitec has maintained a positive brand image during the COVID pandemic by offering flexible payment options and catering to the banking needs of people from various socio-economic backgrounds. The technological factors, particularly the use of digital banking, has helped the company expand its market share and simplify payment solutions for its customers. Capitec also strives to adhere to legal and environmental regulations and policies, which has positively contributed to the company’s sustainability goals. Overall, Capitec Bank’s ability to adapt to changing trends and regulations has helped it maintain its profitability and reputation as a reputable banking institution in South Africa.

Botswana is a landlocked country located in southern Africa, bordered by South Africa to the south, Namibia to the west, Zambia to the north, and Zimbabwe to the east. With a population of over 2.3 million people, it is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world. Botswana is known for its political and economic stability, which has been achieved through good governance, transparency, and effective management of its natural resources, including diamonds, beef, and tourism.

Botswana’s economy is primarily driven by the mining industry, particularly the diamond industry, which accounts for a significant portion of the country’s GDP and exports. The country has been successful in using the revenues generated from its natural resources to invest in social and economic development, including infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

PESTLE Analysis of Botswana

The PESTLE analysis of Botswana provides an overview of the different factors in the country’s macro-environment that work together to create a dynamic business environment for the various sectors.

Political Factors

Among the different countries in Africa, Botswana has displayed a high level of political strength over the years. The democratic system has been successfully in place, allowing the country to focus on developmental goals. Since 1966 Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has been getting a favorable outcome in each election, continuing to be the ruling party till now.

Overall, the political climate is regarded as maintaining a similar level of stability, with minimal disruption occurring due to any conflict. Such high levels of stability make the country an appealing location for startups. In addition, the companies already operating in the region find numerous growth opportunities due to the peaceful environment.

Another positive aspect of the country is the low levels of corruption which signify the positive climate for the different industries. According to Transparency International (2022), Botswana was ranked at the 35th position considering the low instances of corrupt practices in the region.

Economic Factors

Diamond industry is one of the major domains that support its economic prosperity and revenues. In 2023, the economic growth is expected to experience slow down due to lower diamond production. Moreover, the diamond prices are also depicting a downward trend, adding to the economic pressure for the country (Economist Intelligence, 2023).

The government’s focus has been on diamond industry primarily, which has caused economic issues during the pandemic. The trading process was not able to generate high amount of revenues in 2020 as the demand for the diamonds was lower due to pandemic related financial constraints. From 2021 onwards, the economy is forecasted to show positive trends.

Due to less stringent monetary policies, Botswana has experienced an increase in the inflation rate. However, the government has taken the necessary steps to make the policies more favorable for the country’s economic stability. The country has realized the need to diversify its economic activities and has shifted attention towards developing in the digital domain.

Another area where it is imperative to focus attention is the high rate of unemployment, which is estimated to be 26% (The World Bank, 2022). High unemployment is an indication that the creation of relevant jobs in the market is not in accordance to the availability of the people seeking jobs.

Social Factors

The population of Botswana is more than 2.5 million, with more than 70% of the population residing in the urban regions. The country has experienced a sharp decline in the population growth rate due to a higher ratio of females opting to invest in their academics and career. Low fertility rate which can disrupt the population distribution and economic growth in the long run.

Even though the country has been able to maintain political and economic stability, there are some challenges that hinder the social development. An area of concern for the country is the high dependency ratio among the youth. This indicates that the people who are employed have to invest more effort in order to handle the expenses of the dependent, creating financial stress.

High youth unemployment indicates the lack of proper resources for connecting the workforce with opportunities. In addition, the education offered is not focused on creating skilled workforce (The World Bank, 2022). Another social challenge that Botswana struggled with was the high rate of HIV infected individuals which was controlled with required medical intervention.

Technological Factors

The government of Botswana has acknowledged the risks embedded in depending on the diamond sector for economic prosperity. The financial crunch and then the pandemic have pushed the government to focus on the technological sector as a rising opportunity for country’s development.

The digital trend has not been able to receive the same attention in Botswana as in other regions indicated through the low ratio of people engaged in the use of e-commerce portals. The government has created Vision 2036, including e-commerce growth as a part of the development objectives showing the commitment to technology integration in the country (UNCTAD, 2021).

Botswana is aiming to develop its ICT infrastructure along with investing in the strengthening of e-commerce skills of the population. The integration of digitalization would enable the country to further develop in the domain of exports and allow the local firms to increase their global market presence.

Legal Factors

The legal domain of Botswana tries to create a positive business environment. The laws devised by the government encourage the foreign investors, along with the local business activities. Citizens Economic Empowerment (CEE) Law has been put in place to ensure that the local population is able to find employment in foreign investment based firms.

Due to lack of availability of skilled workers in the country, organizations depend on foreign workers to fill in the job positions. These employees are required to fulfill the work permit and other legal regulations related to expatriate employees. In addition, organizations need to obtain licenses from the government, which is a slow process due to red tape.

Environmental Factors

The Waste Management Act of 1998 aimed to highlight the importance of sustainable business practices for the organizations in Botswana. By the end of 2030, the country intends to reduce the carbon emission to 15%, which shows the commitment to the sustainability goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 (Sunday Standard, 2022).

The country is adhering to the achievement of this goal and working towards adopting green business practices. However the government needs to further develop its environment friendly policies and work on its sustainability goals and work on the reduction of CO2 emissions that have steadily increased at a rate of more than 7% every year.

Conclusion

Botswana is a country with a stable political climate and low levels of corruption, making it an appealing location for startups and providing growth opportunities for companies already operating in the region. However, the country’s economic prosperity is heavily dependent on the diamond industry, which has faced challenges due to the pandemic and decreasing demand. To diversify its economic activities, the government is shifting attention towards developing in the digital domain, which is supported by the Vision 2036 initiative. Botswana also faces social challenges, including high rates of unemployment and a high dependency ratio among the youth, but the government has acknowledged these challenges and is taking steps to address them. Finally, the government is committed to achieving its sustainability goals, including reducing carbon emissions and promoting green business practices, although further development of environment-friendly policies is required. Overall, Botswana has made significant progress in maintaining stability and promoting development, but there are still challenges to overcome for sustainable long-term growth.

Brazil is located in South America, and is considered to be a part of the top 10 economies. The developing economy has supported the country to create a notable position in the global economy. However there are some factors that inhibit fast growth of the country. The PESTLE analysis of Brazil outlines these factors in the macro environment, which can affect country growth prospects.

Political Factors

Businesses struggle in regions that are marked by political turmoil and violence. Brazil has facing political instability over the years, resulting in uncertainty for the organizations. The protests that erupted after the shift in government happened as anti-democratic people gathered together. The mass protest in January 2023 turned the country’s political climate volatile.

As a result to the violent protests in Brasília, the military involvement was required to handle the matter and restore the political equilibrium. The attack on state institutions caused nationwide tension and the investors regarded the country as a high risk region for investment. Another factor that contributes to unfavorable political climate is polarization (Andrade, 2023).

From 1980 to 2012 Brazil has flourished due to stable political domain. However, from 2013 onwards the political climate altered and riots and protests became a part of the normal occurrences. This change in political environment had negatively affected business growth opportunities and also created a discouraging dynamics for investors.

Economic Factors

The economy of Brazil shows that the country has been struggling in maintaining a steady pace of economic development. The onset of pandemic and the weak policies of the government have further adversely impacted the economic environment. The GDP growth has been significantly slow, hinting at the underlying economic issues.

Brazil is a part of the trading group of BRIC, and during the pandemic the comparative analysis of these countries indicates that Brazil is lagging behind in terms of GDP ratio. Other countries have also faced pandemic and the consequent economic decline; however Brazil reported lowest GDP growth, averaging 0.3% in the past 10 years (The World Bank, 2022).

There has been some improvement in the GDP from 2020 to 2021. However, the country faces economic challenges arising out of high unemployment, inflation and poverty rates that make the economic progress slower. The limited trading on the international front and discouraging tax policies for businesses also slows economic progress (Martuscelli, 2023).

Social Factors

Brazil is a culturally diverse region with a population of more than 216.4 million people. The country has developed on the social front through increased urbanization and improving the life facilities for the population. Despite the positive developments, there are certain social issues that are holding it back from making rapid economic progress.

High crime rate is one of the major challenges for Brazil, as businesses have to deal with issues such as cargo stealing and extortion. A high rate of such crimes lowers the level of confidence of the businesses, which reduces the likelihood of potential investors making investment decisions (Almeida & Montes, 2020).

During COVID consumer behavior has shown altered buying patterns as a larger number of people spent their income on healthcare related items. A smaller ratio of spending was directed towards purchase of non health and luxury items such as clothing. Another change that was triggered by pandemic was a preference of online shopping over physically visiting the stores.

The online purchase trend has maintained the momentum even after the lockdown has ended, showing the long term changes made on consumer buying behavior. Pandemic has also affected the brand’s market share as customers responded to price difference and opted for lower price brands (Fernandes, et al., 2021).

Technological Factors

Brazil has invested in the development of its technological capability and has shown improvement in terms of technological advancement. Despite this growth, the country has not been able to fully utilize the growth potential offered by different technologies. Strengthening of the country in this sector can help its different sectors in growing and innovation.

The government has taken steps to use digital development to create a favorable business environment. An example of the increased focus on this domain is development of Brazilian Digital Transformation Strategy with the aim to use digital education and skills to boost organizational productivity and country’s economy (Mari, 2022).

Legal Factors

The legal environment in Brazil is facing challenges of high corruption and poor enforcement of laws. There are regulations that have been developed to facilitate businesses to operate smoothly, however the high corruption creates unwanted barriers to business growth. In spite of these challenges, the country is trying to develop a more robust legal framework.

There are laws related to employment, labor management and consumer rights. Moreover, there are regulations for the foreign employees working in the country. Improvements are required in legal framework to make it encouraging for entrepreneurs and start ups. Taxation is another problematic area that needs to be modified to create a favorable business environment (The World Bank, 2022).

Environmental Factors

Environmental changes have propelled the governments and environment protection agency to take the needed steps to lower the environmental damage. Some countries have been able to implement sustainable and green practices, while some other regions find it challenging to adhere to eco-friendly business requirements.

Brazil is included among those countries that are lagging behind in making significant improvements in the business operations in terms of environmental standards. The country is renowned for having the largest rainforests which are threatened due to deforestation and the high degree of emissions from the different industrial units.

According to The World Bank (2022), the government has not been able to develop a clear and comprehensive strategy to deal with the ongoing climate issues. There have been some guidelines for the businesses and the development of goals for reducing carbon emission. But there is an evident lack of strategy to achieve these targets.

Conclusion

Brazil has a challenging business environment due to the slow economic development and issues pertaining to economic and environmental factors. However, with the adoption of suitable policies and regulations, the negative impact of these factors can be curtailed.

Britannia is an Indian based company belonging to the FMCG industry, focusing on food related products. Operating since 1892, the company has a rich history of evolving through political and social changes in the region. The PESTLE analysis of Britannia elaborates the way external environment influences the company operations.

Political Factors

The Indian political arena has faced many changes through the unpredictable course of political events. Conflict and violence are an occasional occurrence in the country, which is linked with the disruption for the food production and supply (Wischnath & Buhaug, 2014). Significant shift in food harvest can affect the volume of production of Britannia.

High corruption poses challenge for the company as India is facing corruption across different levels. Even within the company, there has been an indication of manipulation of supply chain operations (Vats, 2012). Government’s policies pertaining to export of raw materials for manufacturing of food items have the potential to influence Britannia’s productivity.

The management has to be aware of the changing government policies about the trading Indian government has banned the export of wheat, which constitutes the basic ingredient for the different food products being produced by the company. However the presence of wheat stock has reduced the threat of facing scarcity of wheat.

The sales tax imposed by the government along with the pricing decisions also carries implications for the organization. The management has to make required changes to sustain its profitability in spite of the unfavorable factors exerting pressure on the business.

Economic Factors

Britannia has been able to gain benefit from the positive trading relations of India with other countries. The company has expanded its reach to more than 60 countries where the range of products is available for the consumers. Despite the positive development of the company there are certain economic factors that have impacted its financial growth.

High inflation has made it challenging to keep up with the steady pace of profitability. By the end of 2023, inflation rate is expected to reduce which would help the firm to gain higher revenues. Rise in the price of raw material and oil caused higher production and transportation cost, which consequently resulted in increased price of the products (D’Souza, 2022).

Economic uncertainty was also triggered due to COVID which has caused significant disturbance for numerous industries. Britannia on the contrary has been able to gain benefit of the changing economic situation during pandemic. The success of the company is attributed to the effective management of the inventory and cost of production.

Social Factors

Pandemic induced changes in the consumer behavior are evident across the food sector. Instead of opting to go to restaurants, people preferred to buy packaged goods or have homemade food. The heightened importance of hygienic products has supported Britannia in gaining higher sales as the company is seen as maintaining sanitization standards (Dalmia, 2020).

Consumers have developed brand loyalty with the organization due to the well established market presence backed by the long history. Pandemic resulted in the urban consumers being more inclined to buy FMCG brands that were familiar to them and were regarded as offering good quality food items. Conversely, the rural consumers considered pricing as most important.

The management is bringing innovation to keep the products appealing for the young market as well. Another trend that the management has used to move towards business growth is the rising consumption of coffee. Biscafe has been launched to capitalize on the developing coffee market, offering the consumers with a snack to pair up with the beverage.

Technological Factors:

Britannia is using different technologies to manage the business operations. Digital presence is one such domain where use of social media and website indicates the way technology is helping the organization to attain significant level of market share. From collaboration with Accenture to jQuery, these tools have enabled the company to develop a strong position in the FMCG sector.

Another impact of digital technology is on the decision making pattern of the target market. Previously, majority of household food purchasing decisions were made by housewives. Online presence has enabled Britannia to reach a wider market including males and even the younger segment of the population.

Besides digital technology, India is making progress in technologies that aid in advancing automation and production efficiency. Britannia has been able to integrate these tools to further develop its automation capacity (Britannia, 2022). These steps have enabled the organization to further improve its manufacturing of bakery items, in terms of quality and volume.

Innovation is at the core of its growth as the fusion of technology and innovation has provided the company competitive edge over the competitors. Even the dairy segment of the business has been able to benefit from technology, which helped in managing supply chain of milk.

Legal Factors

The company is operating in the FMCG sector which has to adhere to the food safety and quality guidelines issued under the Food Safety and Standard Act of 2006. Moreover, the rules concerning investment in foreign regions, acquisition of other companies and copyright laws hold relevance for the organization.

Violation of these regulations can lead to legal case and disputes. There have been legal issues where Britannia filed cases on other companies due to trademark and copyright issues. In addition, the company itself had to face litigation due to the controversial advertisement that was targeting its competitor Parle G (Prasad, 2022).

Environmental Factors

The concerns of the government and environment related entities have pushed different FMCG brands to make changes into their business operations. Britannia has adopted energy efficiency as a part of its transformation plan, along with sustainable packaging and procurement. The company has also limited its ratio of emissions to meet the mandatory standards (Britannia, 2022).

The company has minimized the waste to zero which is a notable achievement. Another eco-friendly initiative is the Extended Producers’ Responsibility (EPR) program that focuses on lowering the volume of plastic wastage and emphasizes on becoming plastic neutral organization.

Conclusion

The FMCG segment has faced barriers to growth due to political and economic issues. However, the favorable social trends and use of technology has helped Britannia to enhance its production and achieve high profits despite these challenges. Improved economic conditions and use of innovation are likely to create further growth opportunities for the company.

Best Buy is based in the US, operating in electronic retail industry. The company has centered its operations in the US and also has market presence in Canada currently. The PESTLE analysis of Best Buy elaborates on the different factors present in the external environment of the company and their effect on the business.

Political Factors

The US has a stable political environment with minimum political disruption. There remains a threat of violence and terrorism in the US and the ranking of 96 in the political stability list indicates the risk present in the business environment. Best Buy is operating effectively in the country maintaining its operations through retail stores and online portals.

Trade relations with other countries affect the way supply chain of retail stores work. In case of Best Buy, the company is able to manage its supply chain integrating suppliers from different countries. China holds a significant position among the list of supplier for Best Buy (Repko, 2020). Changes in tariff are another political factor that can disrupt the supply chain for the company.

Economic Factors

The changes occurring in tariff affect the price structure that is offered by the retail organizations to the consumers. The management at Best Buy recognizes the implications of higher tariff and the resultant price changes. The company also recognizes that consumers may not be prepared to pay when there is a significant raise in the prices, thus decisions have to be made accordingly.

In an effort to manage complications arising out of increased tariff, the company has procured the products before the application of new tariff. The performance of an organization is also dependent on the economic environment created by income of households, employment ratio and inflation. Best buy faced 11% lower profitability in its outlets owing to the high inflation (Repko, 2022).

The ongoing economic uncertainty during and after the pandemic has affected the company’s decisions pertaining to human resources and business operations. The number of employees had to be reduced due to the increasing cost of operations. Moreover, the decision to shut down operations in Mexico was a result of unfavorable economic environment.

Retailers such as Best Buy had to close some of the outlets to reduce the financial strain and mitigate the risk of bankruptcy. In 2021 the management decided to proceed with the closure of its 12 outlets to limit the negative effect of economic slowdown. A recent closure was finalized in Hixson, with the plans of shutting down the store that had operated for almost 2 decades.

Social Factors

Demographic changes and shifting in the buying patterns of consumers has a significant effect on the profits gained by retailers. Best Buy had to deal with lower sales due to the reduced spending of consumers on electronics during pandemic. This has resulted in lower profits observed by the company, and the management had to reduce costs by layoff of employees and store closures.

Another trend that had influenced the in-store sales of the company was that people initiated work from home due to lockdown and ongoing pandemic. The high number of such workers created a surge in the purchase of related electronic items from online portal. Some of the stores were closed because people preferred buying online (Best Buy, 2022).

The in-store shopping experience was altered during the pandemic as social distancing guidelines were implemented. The introduction of pick up in-store (BOPIS) was initiated for the customers keeping in view the consumer preference of online shopping and the desire to save cost. This service enabled the customers to get package themselves without paying for the delivery charges.

The customer buying patterns for retail industry reflects the way social events and celebrations guide the purchase decisions. The company has significantly higher ratio of sales during the last quarter of the year. A large number of customers make purchases during the holidays resulting in higher sales for the company.

Technological Factors

Best Buy has a wide range of electronic items available for the customers, which are connected to their different technology needs. Besides offering the different technology solutions, the company is using its technical knowledge to engage in technology development of teens through Teen Tech Centers.

Degree of technological advancement of an industry also affects the way supply chain, inventory management and other organizational operations are handled. The company has incorporated BOPIS connecting the in-store and online portals for customer ease. The digital technology has greatly supported the organization in surviving during the pandemic and to manage online sales.

Legal Factors

There are different legal aspects that the company has to follow in order to adhere to the legal framework. Some of the legal requisites include lease agreements, consumer and employment laws. The management had to offer a settlement to the customers who were facing issues due to the problematic product return policies (Bob & Kjeldgaard, 2021).

Product safety standards and quality have to be followed in order to avoid legal complications from violation of consumer law. Failure to provide good quality products to the customers and poor exchange and warranty process has lead to legal cases being filed against Best Buy.

Environmental Factors:

The eco-friendly initiatives taken by Best Buy include Race to Zero and renewable energy. The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) in the US encourages the reduction of waste, carbon emission and shifting to green energy. Best Buy has integrated these practices as a part of the company operations and gained recognition of being the top ENERGY STAR (Best Buy, 2022).

Best Buy also promotes recycling among the customers, encouraging them for a trade in. the products received by the company are recycled to lower the wastage and the harmful impact on the environment. The management aims to achieve zero waste certification in order to reflect the commitment to becoming green and adhering to EPA standards.

Conclusion

Pandemic has altered the retail electronic industry and the business operations of Best Buy were disrupted. However, the company has made strategic decisions in response to these changes in the external environment. In order to remain profitable, Best Buy needs to keep track of the changing trends and market dynamics.
