Political Factors
India has moderately stable political environment, apart from the few instances of violent conflict in recent times. However, there has been no significant shift in the political climate of the region. Therefore it can be seen that the BoAt Company has been able to experience politically predictable environment and shaped its operations accordingly.
The tax imposed on consumer electronics items is determined by the government. The rate of tax effects the cost that is incurred by the buyers. In addition, the tax related policies for businesses are likely to influence the cost of operations. Corruption in India is also a relevant political factor that effects business operations as management of BoAt has to survive amidst this exploitation.
The supply chain decisions of an organizations are guided by the political stability and government’s policies about the import of materials from other countries. When the trading process is restricted due to government’s decisions, a firm’s performance is negatively affected.
For instance, COVID resulted in disrupted supply chain and importing from China was challenging for the company. Another example of poor trading relations is US and China, which has pushed the management at BoAt to consider other options for manufacturing of its products (Bhalla, 2020).
Economic Factors
The economic situation of a country determines the financial output a company is able to achieve. An economy that is struggling makes it difficult for organizations to achieve the targeted sales while a stable economy creates business opportunities for organizations. Indian economy is showing positive future trends which can support the electronic gadget segment.
BoAt has been able to achieve significant sales growth over the years which is supported by the strong economic growth of the country. Inflation is a challenge for the electronic gadget segment as customers have to make purchase decisions that match their disposable income. High inflation necessitates the need to focus more on the necessary items, or seek lower cost alternatives.
The company has been able to keep up despite the rising inflation as the product range available is considered to be economical by the buyers (Hingu, 2022). Other factors such as fuel price adds on to the cost of supply chain management, while labor cost increases are also influencing the profit margin of electronic items manufacturers.
Social Factors
The increased dependence on mobile technology has created a higher need for electronic gadgets such as headphones and earphones. The gadget consumer market has expanded in the last 3 years due to COVID as academics and work related activities were shifted towards home based.
There was a rise in demand of laptop and mobile phones for managing the work or education related tasks. BoAt has been able to gain benefit from this pandemic induced surge in the demand. By charging lower prices, the management was able to address the need of the target market (Singh, 2020).
The taste and preference is of critical importance in the domain of electronic gadgets. Consumers not only expect the product quality to be reasonable but also demand wearable gadgets that remain functional after long use. This goal of developing a product that is aligned with buyer’s demand is dependent on innovating and technology.
One of the factors that has helped the company to achieve high sales was the focus on quality preference. The consumers needed a product that was in accordance to their demand, for instance mobile charging cable wires that are durable and don’t snap easily. By focusing on the consumer preference, BoAt was able to use the social dynamics in its favor.
Technological Factors
The availability of technology and skilled labor is of critical importance for the gadget manufacturers. Ease of access to the required technology helps the companies in manufacturing good quality electronic gadgets which meets the buyer’s expectations. The technological tools helped BoAt in managing production efficiency and manufactured 1 crore products in a year.
BoAt has been manufacturing good quality earphone, chargers and cables which requires the use of suitable technology. India has access to the technology that helps the company to maintain the quality of its products and compete with the other imported brands. The management has also engaged in collaboration with global technology companies to create quality product range (Sharma, 2023).
The management has been a part of the joint venture with Dixon Technologies, using the combined efforts to create twin speaker designs. Furthermore, in order to achieve the quality standards, the management invests in R&D of the product development. Technology significantly helps in identifying the designs that are likely to offer the expected quality.
Legal Factors
The consumer rights, product warranty and claim are some of the areas that the BoAt Company needs to follow to avoid any litigations. For instance, the warranty linked with the products needs to specify the terms and conditions and the claim needs to be dealt with within the legal guidelines.
Employment laws constitute another area that needs to be followed by the company. Labor laws, regulations pertaining to hiring and compensation being offered to the employees are some of the main factors that influence the company’s policies. The Indian Ministry of Labour & Employment serves as the central authority for shaping company’s employment policies.
Environmental Factors
The waste management practices adopted by an organization indicate the management’s stance towards sustainability and environment responsibility. BoAt Company is involved in e-waste management practices at the core of which is the notion of recycling the electronic gadgets and their parts. The management also practices environment friendly manufacturing operations (Imagine Marketing Limited, 2023).
Conclusion
The BoAt Company is operating in a significantly favorable industry environment which is supported by political stability, economic growth and rising technological capacity of the country.
The management has also been able to recognize the needs of the target market and establish its position as a low cost and high quality wearable gadget manufacturer.
